About Brick Calculator

The Brick Calculator computes the number of face bricks, pavers, and bags of masonry mortar required for building walls, chimneys, retaining structures, and patios.

What is Brick Calculator?

The Brick Calculator computes the number of face bricks, pavers, and bags of masonry mortar required for building walls, chimneys, retaining structures, and patios.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter wall length and height in feet.
  2. Select brick type.
  3. Keep 10% waste buffer.
  4. Review total brick count and mortar bags.

The Mathematical Formula & Variables

Total Bricks = Length * Height * Bricks_Per_SqFt * (1 + Waste / 100); Mortar Bags = Bricks / 80

Step-by-Step Worked Example

Scenario: 25 ft long by 8 ft high brick wall using Standard Modular bricks (7 per sq ft) with 10% waste.

  1. Wall surface area = 25 * 8 = 200 sq ft.
  2. Net bricks = 200 * 7 = 1,400 bricks.
  3. Add 10% waste: 1,400 * 1.10 = 1,540 bricks.
  4. Mortar bags needed: 1,540 / 80 = ~19 bags (80-lb Type N or S).

Result: 1,540 Bricks & 19 Bags of Mortar
